Concert Recitals for Students of the Munich Piano School

Making music is more than just practicing in a quiet little room: music also serves a very important social function. It entertains and delights the audience, provides a topic of conversation—and, last but not least, as a musician, you’re always a little proud of what you can show off. At a piano school, students naturally rarely interact with one another—since most receive one-on-one lessons, they usually only know by sight the students who go immediately before or after them. We think that’s a shame—after all, a piano school should also be a social place, a place where people who share such a wonderful hobby as playing the piano can come together. That’s why we’ve launched the “Piano Party”—for our younger students—and the “Salon Evening”—for our adult students—at Klavierstunde München. Both event formats offer the opportunity to play your favorite pieces in front of other students and to interact with them.

Piano parties

For our younger students, we organize what we call “Piano Parties.” These events bring together all of our students who are interested in performing their favorite pieces in a friendly setting and getting to know other students.

Piano Parties are a great way for our younger students to try their hand at playing the piano in front of an audience. No one starts out with a big solo concert—and especially those who haven’t been playing the piano for very long may not yet feel confident enough to play in front of a “larger” audience. At Piano Parties, students can perform their favorite piece in a relaxed atmosphere and share a few thoughts about it: What makes it special? Why did they choose this particular piece, and what do they love about it?

The party program is rounded out with games and plenty of opportunities to socialize. In addition to practicing piano in front of an audience, the piano parties also provide a chance to connect with like-minded people and meet new friends who share a passion for the piano.

Salon Evenings

Just as the “Piano Parties” are for younger students, the salon evenings are for the adult students at Klavierstunde München. Adult students, too, benefit from working toward a specific goal as they learn—for example, performing a favorite piece in front of a small, select audience.

Our salon evenings offer adults the opportunity to perform a piece of their own choosing in front of other adult students at our school and to share a few words about the piece and their personal connection to it. Of course, it’s not just about showcasing one’s own performance. Afterward, in a relaxed setting, piano enthusiasts can gather over a glass of wine to chat—about music, but also about anything else, of course.

We also want our older students to see the school as a social space for music, where piano music serves as the medium that brings together people of different ages and from very different walks of life.
