Piano Lessons for Adults

“Every child is an artist. The challenge is to remain one as an adult.”
- Pablo Picasso

Long neglected, it’s actually quite common today for adults to learn a new instrument, such as the piano. And why not? After all, we live in an age of lifelong learning, are living longer, and feel physically and mentally fit for longer.

Adults Can Learn to Play the Piano, Too

Everyone knows the saying: “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Brain research has shown the opposite to be true. Of course, children learn faster and more efficiently. So you probably won’t become a concert pianist if you start playing the piano at age 30, 40, or 50. Nevertheless, the human brain is so flexible that learning music is possible well into old age. Even as an adult, you can therefore make progress on the piano and learn to make music with joy.

Playing the piano keeps your mind sharp

That’s actually true! The reason: Even in adults, learning creates new connections in the brain. These, in turn, affect brain function in other areas. So not only do you have a lot of fun making music, but playing the piano also improves your concentration and memory—and helps keep you mentally fit overall.

Time to get back into it?

Did you take piano lessons as a child or teenager but haven’t played in a long time? Then now might be the perfect time to get back into it! Even if your skills are a little “rusty,” they can usually be reawakened fairly quickly. After just a short time, you’ll already notice significant progress and will once again enjoy sitting down at the piano.
The progress you make with the help of a piano teacher and through regular practice builds self-confidence, strength, and motivation—even in other areas of life. And last but not least, making music is a wonderful way to take a break from the often stressful daily routine and forget your worries, big and small, for the duration of your playing.

Piano Lessons for Adults: Our Approach

A child is born with the ability—indeed, the need—to learn. Why shouldn’t learning remain a pleasure? This is especially possible when instruction is tailored to the individual student and his or her personal progress.

We are convinced that playing the piano doesn’t have to remain a dream, even for older adults. Our experience has shown us that older people, too, can still achieve a great deal musically and, above all—and this is even more important—can develop a love for playing the piano. Success will then come naturally over time.

That is why we would also like to encourage adults to sign up for our piano lessons and experience, through a free trial lesson, just how much engaging with music can enrich their lives.
